1. Dictation- Have someone dictate your words. Say the word, write the word, and say it again.
2. Trace A Word- Write the words on a piece of paper. Trace the words with your favorite color marker.
3. Back Tracing- Work with a partner. Partner stands behind you and writes spelling word on your back with their finger. Try to guess the word, and then switch.
4. Memory- On index cards or small pieces of paper, write one spelling word on 2 separate cards. When all spelling words are written, play with a partner. Turn the cards face down. Take turns turning over 2 cards. When a player finds a match, keep the cards. The winner is the player with the most cards at the end of the game.
5. Sentences- Write each word in a sentence. Remember, it can be a telling sentence or an asking sentence (a question).
6. ABC Order- Look at the first letter of each spelling word. Make a list and write the words in alphabetical order, starting with any words that start with A, then look for B words, etc.
7. Consonants and Vowels- Write each word with all consonants in one color and all vowels in a different color.
8. Rhyming Words-Write a spelling word. Then think of a word that rhymes with it. Write the rhyming word next to the spelling word.
9. Fancy Writing-Write your spelling words in a fancy way
